C.A. Wells returned to Alameda March 14-16, 1997 to teach 3 of her newest pieces and 2 favorites from other classes she's taught. The five pieces C.A. taught were:
Create a small three-sided ornament for
your favorite pair of scissors using 35 count Brussels ivory linen and Soie
d'Alger silk floss in shades of rosy pink. A beautiful berlin rosebud is
featured on one side, your initial in cross-stitch on another, and a lacy
pattern of pulled thread using the Interlocking Coil Filling stitch with perle
cotton on the third. C.A. will teach the filling whitework, Chain stitch, plus
a Chain stitch joining technique. Complete finishing is detailed with gold
twisted cord and accented with a silk ribbon tassel.
Amaze yourself with this unique 30 count
linen sampler pyramid that features five surfaces to stitch using silk
variegated floss of lavender, green and gold. You'll learn sequence stitching
and a variation of a detached buttonhole in perle cotton, the four sided,
palestrina knot, satin, and Rhodes diamond. The samplers alphabet is
divided between the four sides with the samplers verse and
personalization located on the bottom of the pyramid. C.A.'s linen binding
stitch will join seams on the diagonal as well as straight seams and all
joining is worked from the outside of the pyramid. Dyed-to-match silk ribbon
bows highlight the pyramid's point.
Create this unique triangular block
cushion totally by hand! Join a band of linen embellished with a traditional
sampler alphabet around this small keepsake accessory that features antique
borders of Cross Stitch on 30 count ivory linen. Special stitches using
hand-dyed silk floss include the Zig Zag Chain, Three Sided, Algerian Eyelet,
Diamond Eyelet, Hem Stitch, Buttonhole, Palestrina knot, Geometric Satin,
Herringbone, Straight Rice, Four Sided and Hungarian.
Similar to the tri-block sampler, the
band block cushion features three surfaces to stitch - front, back and band.
Join a band of linen embellished with a traditional sampler alphabet around
this small keepsake accessory that. Antique bands of Cross Stitch on 30 count
ivory linen are bordered by Geometric Satin sequence stitching with hand-dyed
silk floss to show off those gorgeous threads. Learn the Zig Zag Chain, Three

Knot, Satin, Herringbone, Straight Rice, Four Sided and Half Rhodes. A sampler
verse graces the front of the cushion while your name and year are bordered by
a Coil Filling Stitch on the back. Learn a variation of C.A.'s Linen Binding
Stitch to join the seams that are pretty, precise and decorative. The inset
band of letters allows this cushion to stand alone while you enjoy the
beautiful results.
A lattice pattern of whitework
embellishes this dainty 3 inch, silk lined initialed pocket pendant. A perfect
size for small sewing accessories, this pocket is created from a narrow band of
soft white 28 count linen with pre-finished hem stitched edges. Diagonal Double
Wrapped Four Sided stitches frame Diamond Eyelets tipped with Palestrina Knots
in white perle cotton. Your initial is cross stitched over one thread with silk
to match the silk lining of the pocket. You will learn two silk lining
attachments techniques. Twisted cord and a vintage button with beautiful French
wired ribbon laced through each side highlight a quick finish to this pretty
pocket.
