C.A. Wells came to the San Francisco Bay Area in January 1996 and taught 4 of her signature pieces. C.A. is a marvelous teacher and her speciality is finding ways to use needlework, rather than just hanging it on a wall or putting it on a table. She regularly teaches at the Spirit of Cross-Stitch Festivals, EGA workshops, has had many articles in needlework magazines and is a popular teacher across the country. She will return again in 1997 to teach more classes.

The companion piece to the Peacocks Silk Sampler Purse features regal peacocks from a Danish sampler of 1777 under a royal crown to grace the front of this colorful case providing storage for scissors and needles. Created with Waterlilies silk floss, Soie Cristale, and twisted silk on 35 count ivory linen. A variety of stitches are used including the Four Sided, Chain, Hungarian, Petit Point, Parisian, Triangle, Satin, Knot, Diagonal, Stem, Rice and Fly, plus a joining technique to make a movable hinge to open case revealing a special needle verse hidden under a felt pocket. Case closes with a tiny tassel over a mother-of-pearl button.
